Temple Beth Or, through its Rothschild Blachschleger Lecture Series, brought noted author Rabbi Harold Kushner to speak at Montgomery’s Alabama Shakespeare Festival on November 11, 2008. His talk, “Overcoming Life’s Disappointments,” both poignant and humourous, drew a crowd of near-capacity at the Festival Stage. Perhaps best noted for his earlier book, When Bad Things Happen to Good People, Rabbi Kushner was a congregational rabbi for nearly 50 years.
